Energy Council are accredited SAP assessors and On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors (OCDEA) licensed under the 'competent persons' scheme to thermally model buildings in order to produce SAP evaluations, and demostrate compliance with Part L1A & L1B of the Building Regulations and produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

Our software is also approved by the BRE which means we can also undertake SAP calculations for use within a Code for Sustainable Home or EcoHomes assessment. Energy Council can provide all the necessary SAP advice and guidance from initial design inception through to completion on site to ensure Part L/Code/EcoHomes Compliance is achieved.

SAP stands for Standard Assessment Procedure which is the Government's recommended method for calculating the energy performance of a dwelling.

SAP is used to demonstrate compliance with Part L1A (new build dwellings) and 1B (existing dwellings - extensions, change of material use etc) of the Building Regulations - Conservation of fuel and power.

The SAP is the UK's standard method of measuring the overall efficiency of a property and is the Government's recommended system for producing a home energy rating. It is used to calculate the Target Emissions Rate (TER) and the Dwelling Emissions Rate (DER).The carbon dioxide emission rates are calculated within SAP to compare the actual emission rate of your building - the Dwelling Emission Rate (DER), and the Target Emission Rate (TER) to ensure compliance with Part L1A 2006. All new dwellings and some renovations and conversions require a SAP evaluation. SAP is also used to demonstrate improvements in energy performance
necessary to meet the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
